Fitting steering wheel ferrari replica mr2

Decided to give the interior a vacuum today lol, it was filthy. Fitted my boss kit and an Isotta leather and chrome steering wheel i picked up at Halfords (bargain at £60) Smiley

Should be getting a nice set of matching Sparco pedals soon also, just need to go and get them. I will soon be turning my attention to putting in the wiring for the sound system/amps etc... hence the cleaning out.

More body work 2 ferrari mr2 replica

Other than that I have been continuing on preping the body. I havent had much time so i've just been doing little bits at a time when i have had time. The body i recon is 80% there Smiley I hope to be ordering the wheel spacers this month. Then I can see what the wheels look like fitted. Exciting times!

More body work 1

Hi, just a quick update.

May not seem alot but i've done some work.
Mainly focused on the body, trying to get it as perfect as possible for paint. This will save me alot on the cost of the bodyshop.

Completed driver side door-wing gap. I now have this how i want it. I've done about 50% of the passenger side also. Filling minor inperfections, etc mainly on rear area and sides.

Bonnet fitted also. Hopefully if the weather is good (unlike the last few days) i should hope to get alot more done tomorrow.

Ferrar mr2 door skins fitted and bonded

I bonded the rear section on.
Fibreglassed the roof join.
Filled one door jam and door.
Fitted the rear lights (not wired)
Some rubbing down of the body and filling holes.

Right now my attention is on filling the other side door/jam and fitting the bonnet.

Heres a few pics in no particular order.

Body adjustments of mr2 ferrari

Been spending time on making the fine adjustments and alignment of the body, one of the most important things i think and patience is needed to get it right. I should have update photos soon.

I bonded the doors today, got the door locks and handles working in the new skins. Also mounted the rear deck lid latch (reposition of existing boot latch). Some fine adjustments to do tomorrow.
Also mounted wing mirrors, and started transferring the electric window mechanism from the old wing mirrors. Pics soon.

Moving the fuse box

The fuse box is simply rotated 180 degrees so that it will be accessible when the front wings are on.

Original position

As you can the current boot layout of the toyota mr is in the way of where the ferrari front wing will sit. if it is left in its current position the fusebox will not be able to be accessed later on.

Moving the fuse box. This was simple by unbolting and turning it around.

New position allowing for the ferrari replica wings to sit in place.

Ferrari body starts to fit the mr2

Both doors on. Just tapped with a few screws. One side skirt on. Rear section (sides) taped with screws.
Ii also had to slightly relocate the front boot fusebox, it was a simple job and took about 20mins.
The body is coming together quite quick and so far i ghavent had any major problems.

One of the important aspects in getting the car look right will be the ride height. As my budget does not allow for coilovers, i will be using 40mm lowering springs for the time being. Hopefully the will give the car a more authentic Ferrari 360 look and ride height. The Toyota mr2 already has decent handling so this should hopefully still be a fun car to drive.

Door handle mechanism. The Mr2s exsiting handles have been adapted to work in the style of the Ferrari handles which will be mounted in the door skins. The handles will lift up now instead of out.

Test fitting the body on the car

Heres a few updates. Havent actually done alot but things are moving ok.

Test fitting the ferrari 360 kit on the toyota mr2 and making cutouts where necessary.

Picked up the ferrari mr2 bodykit today :)
